Yamaha Recording custom NOS

Loading...

I just found this in a local music store:

Yamaha 9000 recording custom, cherry red, made in Japan, pre YESS, 22-16, 10-10, 12-10, 14-12. NEW, never used!

The shop hasn't really thought about a price yet, but I am thinking this might be a great deal.

Are those drums sought after more than the more recent ones?!

Does anybody have an idea about the value?

Hi,

Pre-YESS dates the kit 80's-early 90's, sizes are the power sizes ( a bit less desirable but still great), with a pretty common finish,.. since you say these are new old stock it does help the value of them. Depending if hardware is included my guess is $1,000-1,400 tops unless someone out there really wants these they would pay more.

Hope this helps.

The only downside is the sizes.

These are deep rock sizes and not very wanted these times. That is probably the reason why the won't sold already.

For a nos shellpack in these sizes an estimated 500-1000 would be more realistic at the moment.

Yeah power toms are not the way forward these days. And I guess mounted 14x12 floor toms. Everyone went through a massive phase of having those hung floor toms. Even back in the day (sometime in the mid 90's) I did it. I soon realised that 3 legs where easier than a whole stand, or the endless playing about because you couldn't fit on the stage because that last stand leg has nowhere to go! And they always bounced about.

I soon realised I preferred a good ole floor Tom, I think they look so much better.

I guess that's all thanks to Steve Gadd.
