Yamaha Question

Loading...

HI All,

I just got myself a Yamaha Maple Custom set that I'm picking up 8th Jan.

The original bass drum T's and claws are no longer with the drum. The T's have been replaced with straight rods.

My question is this: I want to replace the rods back to T's. Is there a difference in the claws between,

(a) original Maple Custom Claws

(b) Maple Custom Absolute Claws

(c) Maple Custom Absolute Nouveau Claws.

I've read on the Yamaha website that the original style (A) claws that this drum would have had originaly have now been discontinued, does anyone know if this is correct? If so, will the claws from the "Absolute" or "Absolute Nouveau" fit a maple custom hoop? I've heard the original Maple Custom hoops were thicker and thus the original claws were thinner, if anyone can confirm any of the above or help me finding any original claws I'd be greatful.

Pic of what I'm looking for below :-

Thanks guys.

Dave

jazzbo,

That's great news, Part Numbers from Yamaha's website are as follows:-

Claws

Ref: Part No

K-1. U0 053020 RIM TENSION CLAW HOOK

T's

Ref: Part No

A-100 U0043350 BD TENSION ROD (3) L-100mm

Also the part number for the 115mm T's if needed.

U0 043450

The T's come in either 100mm or 115mm. As I don't have the set just yet I'm not quite sure which length I need.

I bought 2 bass drums. A 20" and a 22", both 10 lugs per side. I'll definatly need 20 T's and 20 Claws, but, could be 40 each if I find out neither drum has the correct T's & Claws.

You can email me at : diddle001@blueyonder.co.uk

If you can obtain the parts could you get a price plus shipping to me in the UK. I'd be forever in your debt.

Thanks.

jazzbo,

Jeepers, that was fast. It's the T's I really really want to put back on the set. God knows why anyone would want to swap them for straight rods in the first place is a mystery to me. Many thanks for you assistance so far with this, really appreciated.

Do you know if Yamaha have actually discontinued those T's?

Re: Japanese new year. and confirmation of availability, that's ok, and understood. Just contact me when you find out.

Nice score! I have replaced my bass t-rods with straight rods because they seem to hang up and bend on the edge of my soft padded bags when packing up my kit after one night jobs. I do have all the original rods and washers sealed in a plastic bag safely put away.
