Yamaha 60's kit

Loading...

Hello.

For the most of you i'm new, while some of you may know me from other fora.

I'm a 29 year old drummer hailing from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

I'm a Yamaha lover, collector and living database, because of my knowledge and extended catalog collection (and by some referred as insider because of my friendship with the company and its people)

I wanted to show you my vintage kit, which I stumbled on after being notified by another drummer. It was in a very used state, so me and the misses did quite a job on it.

Specs...

Its a 1967 (ish, could be one year later) DT-225 in the rare Blue Camphor color in the (also quite rare) sizes 2x12x8 (hence DT, Dual Tom) 16x16, 20x14.

The sound is amazing (no muffling used at all just the Suede Emps on toms and PS3 combi on kick)

I'm still looking for a matching 14x14 floor tom (one sold just before I could my hand on it, a painful moment which was just as rare as finding this kit) and 14x5,5 snare.

Enjoy this visuals and sound as much as I did making them :D

First 2 links do not work. I get a 'page not accessible at the moment' on the first.

I get a 404 error on the 2nd.

You ever had a Rogers R-360/380? If so - what are your thoughts on them?

(Watched the vid) Drums sound great. Looks like you all have a great time!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Thank you. They should work now.

The band is so much fun to play and record with. We are really got something going here.

I did play on a Rogers when I joined Zitakula. From the old drummer when he left. Really speaking drums.

Listened to 'Stop Looking'. Could not hear the toms very much - and listening on a computer - so limited quality listen. Sure sounds professional though. Very good playing.

Facebook page (link) still not working.

That's an amazing looking kit in that rooftop photo. Nice photo too. Ah jeez, got me all desirous now...

Tell us why the obsession with vintage Yams...? Curious.

Actually, it was all Questlove and my 20 year love for Yamaha in general.

I got the kit almost sounding exactly the same as Questo's, including a custom made piccolo with regular sound, which you hear on the recordings and live captures too.
