Xanghai Snare (Chinese)

Hey all,

Here is a snare that I have picked up recently on ebay....It came from China and has no snare beds or bearing edges. Notice that the snares are really springs and there is no strainer or throw off...The T-rods are actually bolts and nuts...It was pretty cheap...I got it for more of a conversation piece than anything, which is definitely drawing attention amongst drummers I know!! I'm in the midst of giving it a thorough cleaning and sanding down all the glue (heavy white spots in last pic)

Enjoy!

Cheers

LOL!!! These are some of the same comments I'm hearing from my fellow drum buddies!! I just thought I'd post it here to see what comments I would receive about it!!!

I could practice cutting bearing edges or snare beds into it, but I think by doing this, I would de-value the drum!! Laughing H

I'm thinking the box behind it in the first picture:

'Assorted Pet Products'

Is appropriate... But it cleaned up nice! DOH

Please tell me it at least tunes up to something resembling "playable"....Walking since you actually took the time to clean it up.

And it's....PINK! What poor little drummer child wanted a pink drum? Even most girls want at least black drums.

It's actually red in color...The lighting makes it look pink...As for tuning, it's flat sounding...I sanded the edges a bit but I haven't cut any bearing edges yet...I might do this down the road when I have more time....This drum is only for display right now in the drum room....
