Loading...

New at this forum.

I bought me recently a 1969 Ludwig in finish Psychedelic Red. All is in good condition... exept basdrum... It have been repaintedToilet, recoverdSoap Box, decoverdelectricit... So I must recover it . But it seems impossible to find that Ludwig Psychedelic Red.

Anyone with some idea what to do? I would realy like to keep in in original finish.

Some pictures here...

This place has the closest match.

There was an earlier repro version that wasn't as good.

I tested everywhere to find wrap. But this wrap does not exist any more. But I find a guy in the U.S.A, which makes custom wrap. I Send him my tom, that he will scann, and made me a new Psychedelic Red wrap. He also has good prices.

You can find him here:

http://drumdesigns.com

He´s method can save lot of vintage drums.... Imagine, you have a Trixon in that wonderful finish Blue /or Gold Crocco. But damaged so bad, that you must recover a part of the drums. And I NEVER see anyone sell Crocco wrap. But he can reproduce that wrap for you, even match the fade of original wrap, if you want him to do it!!!

I got pictures today, from drumdesigns, my Psychedelic Red

To the left my tom he used as example, and to the right, the new wrap (sample) he made for me.

Ah, yes the lovely folks at Delmar...always ready to cut one of us vintage junkies a deal ! Falling Do

Great story, and thanks for the new resource ! It's a pretty good match, IMHO...not perfect, but I bet as an ensemble it all looks very tight.

yeah, I believe all of the usual suppliers (jamminsam, precisiondrum, etc.) discontinued carrying that wrap because it wasn't exactly flyin' ouut the door...

So. I get my kick wrap, and yesterday I put it all together , and took some pictures. My skitzofrenik Luddy get a extrem-makeover, plastic surgery as 40 years birthday present ( he was born feb.19.1969 ).

Here is result:

That´s right that it´s not 100% original. But even if I got original wrap, it would not fit rest so well, becouse my toms are little bit faded. That Drumdesigns did, is to scan my wrap and made a copy of it, so this wrap possible fit even better than the original would. Tis first example, beside my tom was a test ark, Greg added a litle bit more red and green to my kick wrap. as you can see at the images, it fit very very well.

I gotta tell you, that's the first psychedelic Luddy finish that I've really liked. It's got WAY more depth than others I've seen. Really nice specimen.
