Wrap project

Loading...

As most of you remember, some VDF-guys discussed in few threads that is impossible now to find an original "M-Kristall Silber-Schwarz"wrap to rewrapping any old Trowa, Tromsa, Sonor, Tacton & etc.

Now there is a moment for me to find a time to start an one my interesting project - to create a copy of this famous wrap with help of my old friends - photographer, painter, chemist and above all - polygraphist (he is a print-company's owner). We had been discuss this task all together and decided that is not impossible.

Today I completed a first preparation to experimental deals to thermo-printing for stripes (or liquid black band-painting) and inside glitter-covering. This job - my digital drawings and description of layer's composed samples I'll send to my friends.

I hope to get a first results during following two weeks. If this work will move to successfull finish then I'll be proud...

Wish me luck, fellows...

Hello all.

So, here is the first sample of recreated „M/Sparkling Black-Silver Striped“ wrap.

It came out similar to original but dislike to me - glitter's particles are too small and have a multicolor interference effect.

It's clear to me now that it's nesessary to increase the filling of glitter in the mass and particle's size must be larger. Also I think that will be not bad to provide some changes in chemical base of laquer's mix and add a black cover on the back side.

But I satisfied that black stripes made by hot serigraphy on the film are exellent.

Then I'll be on the further steps with my helpers...

Sorry for bad pic's quality.

George.

I like it. Yeah, I can see where the black background would clean that up quite a bit. I can also see your point on the glitter (I think, hard to tell in this pix).

Good job!

I have some Tromsa's in this , George. I think it came in Gold, Silver, green and red too-----at least from Tromsa. If you do get this up and running , I could really use a bit for a floor tom. the rest of the kit is pretty good, although it is one of the wraps that oxidizes really badly.
