Wow, a 1950s MIJ maker you didn't know

yes, but- for 550$ I can get alot more than this from certain sources. Also, buying for excessive amounts without seeing shell interior shots is a bad idea. I asked to see inside the drums but no photo posted. Also, the rust on some of the lugs was quite bad- down to the metal. It`s best to be picky.

Anyway there was a "buy it now" on the auction for 750$ (70,000yen) and somebody hit the button at midnight last night.

I asked my wife to do some research in Japanese on Muraiyama Drum Co. and it was hard to find anything. What she did find out was that after WWII Muraiyama was the main choice of Japanese early pro jazz drums like George Kawaguchi etc...Also, Muraiyama provided drums to US military bases in Japan for a time. Basically, the website (run by an old Japanese vintage fan) said that Muraiyama was the first company to make pro level drums in post war Japan. A snare was sold on auction about 6 months ago for 350$- 8 lugs wood- Radio King copy.

The clip mount looks identical to the late 60s Yamaha clip mount. The name's similar, so should I assume this company is the precursor to modern day Yamaha?

If you just had to have it,that is one thing, but I agree if you are going to pay collector prices I would want it to be in original condition too,and the fact that there is some serious rust issues,I hope whoever got them is happy. These things come in waves and since it sold at bin,I would not be suprised if we see a couple more of them come out of the woodwork. Thanks for bringing these drums to our attention.
