I have learned that regarding crossing the US/Canadian border with drum stuff as part of a deal - it must be clearly explained that you are not in the daily drum selling business and that these are a sale of stuff for personal and not commercial use. Also, there is no need for a special license to do so.

That's just what I have heard, but don't consider my word golden or count me responsible for the accuracy of this information - I have not read the policy on the website (though the site is here------http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/border_security/)

It does deem further research that I will do next time I have a possible cross border deal.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

I just emailed them the question and will share what I get back....this info will be golden and I will share in a dedicated thread if a sufficient answer is given.

I like the drum kit and with the restore considered

if you could shave it closer to three bills it would be a good buy ..the wmp alone would motivate me to pay a little more than a sparkle wrapped kit but that is just preference. I don't care for the Tama Reso head on that particular kit and if they are anything like the two stage band style MIJ kits I have

the build quality is best suited for lighter duty playing

From Drummerjohn333

...So, I say 350 would be reasonable. ...Yeah, you can score one like this at the old lady's garage sale for $100, but it would need a ton of time to clean/polish, possibly parts, and all new heads whcih do not come cheap these days at all. Besides, it is becoming much more rare these days to find these at the sales. There is a difference between what we are looking at here vs. what we discover pre-restore.John

Agreed, 100 percent.

We're all hunting here still for bargains, which hopefully are out there, anywhere, right? Nevertheless: the respective targets will become more rare and rare - apparently time works against us.

In the last years this VDF and it's members have developed huge steps

1. to make the vintage drum manufacturers transparent,

2. to give assistance in restoring a dusty rusty looking vintage drumset,

3. to help with ANY question coming up on ANY theme about vintage drums.

You don't need another forum to go into deep in vintage drums.

That said, it was a benefit to have this VDF.

The other side of the coin: people, formerly innocent in vintage drums, learn to appreciate value for these dusty rusty (= vintage) drumsets = which continuously will lead to rising price even at the cheap vintage MIJ drumsets.

I really have spent some time in thinking about my STAR website, whether it's a good (= for other vintage fans) or a bad idea (for my wallet, when the prices rise).

Finally, you know, that I've found my decision ;)

Again, the stated price by Drummerjohn333 seems reasonable for me.
