worth it slingerland artist snare?

Loading...

hi there,

as mentioned in this thread: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=9715

i have a slingerland artist snare, which has cracked seams between the shell and the reinforcement rings.

now i could try to repair it myself (but i dont have the time at the moment) or have it done at a local drum repair specialist.

only question is:

is this snare worth investing something around 200$ for repairs.

thanks!

$200 seems kinda high to repair the rings, not really a lot of labor going into that. I would check around and get a couple more quotes first, maybe someone on the board can help you out. Artist model is a great snare and worth restoring, is it 1ply or 3ply?

it is the 3ply version.

well, the quote on the repair is actually 140€

the average wage per hour for this kind of work is 40€

the cost would include taking the original rings out and reglueing them completely, than resanding the edges.

still to steep or reasonable?

I think removing the rings is overkill. From the , I know they are fairly inexpensive and small stuff like this is right up their alley.pics I think putting glue in the openings and clamping it is the way to go. How about a furniture refinisher

No way I would pay that. I would not go back to that store. That's freekin insane. Send the snare to me or one of the other guys on this forum and we will put it right for you for the cost of shipping. Geez. That store guy is just wrong. Why are people such creeps....
