With guitar and bass players dialed to 10.I would have to have supreme hearing to tell if a cymbal had a crack or not. My 16" Zildjian has a 4" long crack around the bell and it hasnt moved in the 8 yrs I have owned it. Plus the years the fellow before me owned and played it. I am not a heavy hitter anymore,so I would vote to play a cracked cymbal and enjoy it. V

That is a good idea on the nylon. I did the same thing with a very similair situation, maybe (probably) worse than what yours looks, but with a grommet, and it has worked out pretty good.
