Wooden Drum Hoops Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Okay, I realize that there must be some time spent in manufacturing wooden drum hoops. Sure, they look really cool. Yep, the vintage ones have a certain mystique. The ageing on the older rims is beautiful. You can't beat the look of wood. Why though are they so very expensive? Please enlighten me. Thank you.

You're paying for 'hand-work' Brian. Stuff that is stamped out of a machine by the dozens is always going to be much cheaper than something that requires skilled human hands and time to produce.

I have wanted to try wood hoops for some time, so when I "customized" a Ludwig Standard recently I installed Gibraltar wood hoops...I love this snare! Cross-stick sounds stupendous! Worth the cost.
