Thinking about building a copy. Anybody have the specs on a wood Dyna I've never seen one up close. I'll probably never be able to afford one so I thought this might be the next best thing. For those of you wondering I would never represent it as anything but a copy.

Looking for

type of wood

number of plies

re-ring yes/no

snare bed width and depth

edges type and angle

This page should give you most of what you want to know: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/painting_shell_interiors.html

Scroll down to the Rogers interior paint, and it tells of the differences in shell makeup. Also, Dynasonics have VIRTUALLY no snare beds to them. .004" at best.

Thanks for that some great info there. All I need now is what edge shape they had.

I believe it was a 45 degree edge that was mildly rounded over on the outside.....TommyP might be able to better say what it was for sure....

The Rogers Book, Rob Cook, second edition. He discusses in great detail the Rogers Dyna-Sonic, including edges, the 1/16th bearing edge, its cut profile, shell plies, etc. Best source. You need this book.
