I know these are not vintage. I should have done a little more research before I bought them but I hadn't found this forum yet :-)

Any idea of the year they were made?

They were advertised for $70 on craigslist.

No cymbals came with the kit but for the price I thought it was a pretty good deal.

That's a modern Yamaha/Rogers. Entry-level kit. For $70 you did ok. If you're just starting out, they're perfect to bash on. You'll soon outgrow them though.

I like the finish!

Welcome to the forum! You did fine. Great kit to learn basic cleaning and polishing skills on. If bearing edges are a bit rough lightly sand with 2000 grit and rub in some beeswax before putting new heads on. Helps with tuning. These low end kits can be improved quite a bit by taking the time on details that the factory did not. Never will be high end, but can sound pretty darn good.
