Some of the members were asking what was the original wire size used to fasten the tag to the Dyna.I took my original one to a hardware store and they said it was .24 gauge.Just wanted to let everyone know in case you wanted correct period size attachment wire.

Great to see all the members helping on this. Wayne, can you tell what the twist was? That would be the last detail.

Thanks all!

For the actual twist... just google up "Chubby Checker"... Toilet

And for those looking around the Gunstores for some 24G ..

it converts to 0.51mm..

Creighton, from what i can tell from my original wire it looks like the twist was from the left to the right. But it all depends which handed the wire twister guy was,so looks like my guy may have been left handed.Tough call here as i didn`t want to remove my wire from the original but that`s how it looks to me.Your choice on this one Creighton...

Glenn- i did a wire length measurement of approx. 6" at .24 gauge so i don`t think we can get too much closer than this.I didn`t want to remove the wire from my original tag so this is very close.

Thanks Wayne. See you were online whilst I was posting.

Well. I have no idea what "Chubby Checker" has to do with making a spot on correct Dyna Snare tag. A proper restoration would include researching how the wire was twisted, gauge of the wire etc... gauge is done. Thanks Wayne.

Out.

Thanks Wayne. 6" of .24 it is. I don't blame you for wanting to mess with your original. Sometimes thin wire can break after 40+ years of sitting dormant. So best left alone.
