I also dip my pliers and channel locks in Plastic Kote (ace hardware). The working end, not just the handles. Works great to protect what you are tightening.
It also works as a stick grip.

Man.. the difference in the quality of the casting is really significant... but I'm still not feeling that $150 for the Armen... but that is just me.
