Maybe the re-rings?
You could pry them off,and use on another shell?
Donor shell for plugging holes. But starting at $25 seems too a stretch.
Sad to see........but to patch holes a Rogers shell would be a good thing to have I'd think. I'm not saying to take a good used shell and cut it up but this one already cut would fit the bill. Question does it look like he cut a section of the drum out? It kinda does to me. I sure hope he didn't slice that shell open to just show the wood plys!! DOH

Has to have been cut. You can see where the gap is in the rering splice.
I can't picture the rering just snapping in that location.
“I did not trip and fall. I attacked the floor and I believe I am winning.”
It looks like a fresh cut too!

The seller states that he bought this for parts (probably the lugs or mount), but I'm stumped as to why this shell was sliced open like this in the first place. What possible reason could there have been? Any ideas anyone?
I was thinking he cut a piece out of the shell to repair another with. But it's hard to tell. To me it looks like the sliced it open and then spread it apart (note crack in re ring!) to show the ply count and type. Just a guess though. Seems silly to just slice it all willy nilly without purpose no??
