This snare wire was on a drum with various parts. The strainer was a mid 60's sonor. Is this wire sonor too? If not, then what brand? The wires are glued onto ends, it does seem sturdy. thanks,

larry

Are you sure the glue is not an add on? No sign of solder ,under the glue?

Not surprisingly, all Sonor wires , that I could identify were branded as such.

They, like a lot of German mfg. used wires moulded into plastic ends, for quite a while(both black and white),towards the end of the 60's and into the 70's.Later,the all steel ones were soldered to a flat metal, chromed plate ,without a step(like yours has). The holes were very small and were surrounded by a grommet.

thanks. No sign of solder, the glue seems like a resin. The only markings are the #'s and this wire set is sturdy. ( the snare it came on used nice parts: leedy brass shell, hayman lugs, sonor strainer.) I'll keep it on that snare, though I to a geo way strainer, for looks.
