Who out there is the Premier Guru. I have a Premier snare has a "P" badge with #7329. Size is 5 1/2"x14" steel 8 lug. Any thoughts?

Pictures of would be a help. Serial numbers on most drums are meaningless, Premier especially.

Yeah, pics would narrow it down, because that size and material was probably Premiers most common snare, right from the 60's through to the 80's. Until some point in the 90's, Premier APKS, XPKs, and the like came with a chrome 14 51/2 snare. The fact that it's 8 lug makes me thinks it's one of those. However, it could be an old 2000 from the 60's.

Is it single lug? Is there an internal dampener or dual throw off? Does it have slotted tension rods?

I had that exact snare. It was the one I got with my Rosewood apk. The kit you have was the rosewood released after mine, as the earlier rosewood was a lot pinker. I remember I bought a bass drum and a 10 inch tom to boost the kit - the finishes were way off! Both are loveley finishes though. My APK was mid to late 80's at a guess. I guess they kept that snare on for the apks and xpks - though it has a dampner, so it may be older that the rest of the kit. I remember non of my toms had them.

Strange to see a silver border around the badge. Premier began going to standard sizes in the mid 60's which is when the border was dropped to an all black background. If it's all original parts and not a retro fit, it's a late 60's early 70's snare.

The snare didnt come with the kit , sorry about that I was just showing off the kit , I bought the snare as a project for 20 bucks and went from there, so thats why I was asking.

That's a 70's student model snare drum. I forget the name of the series, but they included it with the kits that replaced the Olymbic kits of the 70's......I'm thinking it was called the Club series??

That explains it! Thing is I wish I' would have kept the snare, cos it was obviously a bit more collectible than the kit I got it with and not the one supplied with it!
