Who Here Uses a 26" or Larger Ride?

Hey all,

The biggest ride I currently use is a 1970`s 24" Zildjian A that weighs 4073g...Eventually, I would like to purchase a vintage 26" or larger...

I`m just curious as to how many members here use a large ride...

Cheers

Yes I use 26" trans-stamp (4414g) that I gigged with the last band I was in. I'll try to get a video up so you can hear it. It's dark and not gongy. Nice stick over the wash. Lots of wobble to it!

I had a heavier one somewhere in the 5200g range with a lot more ping but still had a nice sound.

I have a couple A Zildjian 30's and three 26"s.

About once a year I get a pair out and play them at home.

I've found they're very difficult to play. I guess you gotta have the touch?

The wash can get a bit "out of this drummer's hands".

I've seen a jazz player use a 26 with a big band, and it sounded great. The guy knew what he was doing and did it well.

Bun,

Do you have any pics of your 30s? I`d like to see them...

I used to gig my Zildjian 26 and a 30. The 30 was fun, but required an extra, dedicated, two-handed trip to the car.

The 26 I now use as part of my backing plate system when I'm lathing the undersides of the 26's I make. She does not dig that role, but it's important.

Later,

Matt

That's some fine work you do sir. Wish I lived up the street...:)
