Whitehall Snare

Loading...

This was a nice little find. A blue sparkle stencil Whitehall snare as seen in the pics below.

I picked this up for $20 including the small road case underneath it. Pics are as received with no cleaning at all. The snare appears to have seen little use as it has the original logo'd batter head and the wrap is pretty much flawless. Also, the original snare key and holder pouch is present. Snare key says "Pearl" on it....go figure....and I assume it is original. I will be cleaning up the drum and will post a pic or two of the finished product when I'm done.

I have to brag a bit and say that the real deal for this trip was a Fender Super 6 Reverb amp for $50!!!

Seems like a pretty damn good score on both accounts! Congrats! Is that snare 3-ply with rings or more like 6-ply?

Yes cool indeed! I picked up a Whitehall floor tom last week. Until then, never heard or Whitehall.

El, you know, I have not even opened it up yet and it has one of those white mylar snare side heads so I haven't seen the inside! Will take it apart tomorrow.

Whitehall drums were made by Pearl from about 1965-74.By the badge you have it would date it from about 1971-72...The first ones had a stricker on them for the badge funny thing i have one listed on Ebay with three other snares Star and Crest and Astro all drums are C.O.S. 8 lugs snares....Mikey

No re-rings unfortunately. Painted gray interior. Very clean. Nice edges. Muffler looks pristine. Wood grain looks mahogany which is expected. No date.

Also a pic of the cheapo Pearl key.

The only MIJ stuff I've ever come across has been the same, with the exception of one unknown MIJ bass drum that I had. It was unpainted inside the shell with rings. She's long gone now. I also had a Majestic snare similar to yours for a while and got that thing to sound pretty good, actually. I now have a project Stewart snare I'm going to fix up eventually. It looks the same as yours on the inside of the shell. Just clean it up...tune it up...and play it!
