Whitehall drumset - Black Diamond Pearl

Top notch MIJ! Fantastic example of it's kind.

It occurs to me that these little kits with the thin shells and re-rings are a great example of a happy accident - the goal was "cheap", while the Big Four couldn't stoop to making such flimsy shells. So now we have this ~other thing~, wicked wraps and so often a really pleasing bouncy sound, sometimes even with original heads, dare I say...but it's those extra-thin shells that make the MIJ sound unique.

Also, if you wouldn't mind. Could you e-mail me the photos of this kit. I'd love to have it on record for my complete MIJ guide. This is a perfect example of a mij badged kit that is 100% original and can be placed as Pearl made. Granted the engraved mounts help, but without those the lugs are a giveaway. I'll shoot you a PM.

I will email the pictures and will take a few more for you as well.

I just added more pictures on page 1 of the thread.

Yep, a Pearl for sure. I had one about thirty years ago with an add on floor tom. It might have been an eighteen incher I'm not sure. Any way, I was quite pleased back in the day. Very cool sounding kit.

I had a brand new set back in 1967 red sparkle sold them to get a blue sparkle Kingston set which had double toms and a floor tom sold them to get a new set of pearl fiberglass in 1976 and I still got those when I went to pickup the pearls there was a new set of white wrapped double bass Whitehall almost changed my mind but went with pearls and that was 1976 so long ago
