White paint inside old Ludwigs

Loading...

I'm in the middle of restoring a 1965, Ludwig Club Date kit.

The insides of the shells are painted white.

There are a few spots that need touching up.

Does anybody out there know what kind of paint I can use that will match what's already there?

See: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/painting_shell_interiors.html

If you're just touching up, not totally repainting, the color listed in the link may not match due to the age of the paint in your drum. You may have to go to Lowes or Home Depot, get a butch of "white" paint sample chips that look close, hold each one next to the paint you're trying to touch up until you find a match, then get a quart mixed.

I recommend that you leave them as-is, even if the missing paint is extensive

I agree. They're only original once. And if you repaint the insides, you won't get to experience "Old Drum Smell" when you change the heads. I wish they made an air freshener that smelled like that.
