Which way is up?

I'm assembling these push-button floor tom legs for dad's '62 Slingerland. Which end of the rod goes "up" and which end gets the rubber crutch tip?

I'm thinking the end with the groove goes "up" and should have some sort of snap-ring in the groove to prevent the rod from accidently being pulled out all the way through the lug. Am I correct?

I always put the rubber tips on the side with the grooves, thought that it would stay on better, your idea sounds better!

I do like, Lucky. I always put the rubber on the groove end. I've been known to be wrong though. Better to wait until a few more guys chime in.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

The groove is what keeps the rubber foot on

Makes sense for the rounded end to be the top. Groove to hold the rubber foot on.

Well. I'm going with "rounded" on top for now. Thanks for the replys!

That's what I've done with mine, but can't say that's how it's supposed to be.

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!
