Which way is up on 1969 Ludwig floor tom leg mounts?

I am completing restoration of a '69 Ludwig 16" floor tom and I'm not sure which way the leg mounts should be attached.

I don't think it makes a difference from a functionality point of view but I like to get things right.

Does the word LUDWIG on the leg mounts start with the L at the bottom and read from bottom to top?

Or, does the L go at the top and the word read from top to bottom?

He!He! always wandered myself. I just put my mounts the way that the 3 wing nuts are facing the back of the drum,

this way i can reach em all easy from the seat. whith my right hand.

From a quick perusal of old Ludwig catalogs it appears to have not made a difference at the factory. The majority of the floor toms seem to have the wing nut on the your left as you look at the side of the drum, however, both orientations are shown. Perhaps the best example is the Blue Note kit on page 8 of the '71-1 catalog where the alignments are different on the 16 X 16 and 16 X 18 floor toms in the same kit!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I finally got around to putting these on today.

I like the idea of facing them all towards me.

Funny about the catalogs being different. It seems that drum making wasn't such a strict science in those days. LOL

I'm right handed, so I always mount the screw to the right. That's just me, though. It's all for my convenience during setup and teardown.
