Hi again, folks.
I am trying to figure out which side is supposed to face me as I am seated behind the kit playing.
It's a 1968 Ludwig.
It probably doesn't really matter, but I wonder which way the factory sent them.
Thank you.
This subject always confused me, because I see many people with both ways, and done on the telephone dial rail mount as well.
I believe the correct way is what you have in the picture, the straight metal part facing the audience, and the Ludwig logo facing you. It is is the most visually pleasing in my opinion as well.
An example is the Silver sparkle Ludwig picture that Webmaster took at the Chicago show, notice the telephone dial is facing the audience. Maybe drummers from that era who had the kit switched it for one reason and now people are too lazy to switch it back. I don't know, maybe someone else can shed some light on the subject that was actually alive back then.
Mike - you got it right in the picture.
Hey thanks. Good to finally know.
Another vote to keep the internet around...all types of information is so readily available. It used to take a long time to get an answer to a question like that.
Just a side note, it's always amazed me at how this piece of hardware seems to be so thoughtfully designed, yet just barely adequate to hold the drum in one place under normal use.
You know? If one piece of that assembly gets a little worn, and it's all over the place.
;)
:D
