Just picked up a Slingerland 6 lug Snare. 5 1/2x14, WMP and Rapid Strainer. Black and Gold Niles Badge, serial # 105783 Inside seems to have the "Coffee Paint" and there is a black "P" stamped inside. God help me that I'm the WORST at determining the ply of a drum....has reinforcement hoops top and bottom...so, that throws me....(ADD ?) I dunno
This drum is in Immaculate condition! The wrap, chrome and everything is almost like new! Snare head actually says, "Plastic" on it, and I believe it to be original, as is the batter. I took the batter off and there were bits of it left around the rim which came off easily. The drum came in a Slingerland case with stand, (equally as nice.) The outside of the case shows it's years.....I can only assume that this drum has been sitting in there all this time. It has definitely been played, by the looks of the batter head, but the rest of this drum is absolutely stunning.
I've checked the Slingerland Book and have dated it to around 1962, but I don't see ONE Six Lug Drum in there.
Any help, greatly appreciated
Keep it Funky!
