which leg spurs for stainless steel ludwigs??

Loading...

hey all. been lurking for a while as a non member. thought i'd join the fun. i own several vintage kits. currently working on restoring a ludwig stainless stell kit. just got the 22" kick from fedex today. it's almost complete, but has no spurs or legs. my question is this....did these kits originally take the smaller 5/16" spurs and mounts or the larger/later 1/2" legs and mounts. also, should there be some kind of reinforcement plate on the inside of the shell behind the mount like there is for the diamond tom holder??? any body got one in origninal condition that could answer? i'll put up a post later with other kits/snares i have or am working on (mid 60's champagne sparkle luds, slingy chrome over woods, 78 vistalite, etc.). just though i'd get the ball rollling with this question. seems like you all have a good community here, i look forward to being a part and contributing however i can. thanks in advance for your time and information...

I have a set of the 1/2 inchers with mounts if you need 'em. They are boxed and ready to go (from a previous inquiry). They have the big rubber tips and two sets of mounts (in case you don't like one or need extra screws or have a jealous rabbit or like to chew on metal). Let me know.

sounds great. thanks for the reply. sorry i didn't get back to you sooner. i was busy with a baby shower all day. my wife is about to have our first!! how much for the spurs? i guess that means that the 1/2 inchers are the size to go with? i haven't seen a complete stainless kick in person. there's a kit up on ebay that looks like it has the 5/16th size. and my '78 vistalites have the smaller size as well. will either size fit? do you want to email or pm me with details? thanks!

First, congratulations! Welcome to the "daddy" club. That is the most incredible journey a man can take. It will realign your focus on this Earth.

The mounting holes are the same. The main difference is the spur hole. Measure the hole and ensure it can take the 1/2 spur. You should be able to verify the hole pretty simply and have a good indication on which type spur was original. If you bass takes the 1/2, I will get them to you for $40.00 shipped to your address (so long as it is within the contiguous United States). You will receive four mounts with screws and plates (that's two extra) and two spurs with rubber tips. All equipment is in very very good condition (almost new) and it all works just spiffy. Let me know what you need and I'll do my part. Thanks.
