Which is the better Deal....Ludwig 20" Floor Tom?

Hi Guys,

I am thinking about buying one of the two drum sets, maybe both:

Early 70's Ludwig Clear Vistalite kit in very good condition (no cracks) with the following sizes: 13" tom, 16" floor tom, and 20" floor tom and 22" Bass. Did Ludwig make a 20" floor tom? If so, I believe this would be very rare.

The other is an early 60's Rogers Holiday series in Champagne sparkle, also in very good condition with the following sizes: 12" tom, 16"floor and 20" bass.

I can get either set for $500....which is the better deal?

Thanks

I would go with the Ludwig Vistalite. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun to play.

The Rogers set will have versatility and lasting desirability.

If you could get both sets for a grand, you should buy both and sell one. Both sets are worth more than 500 each.

Agreed, and if you decide to sell the vistalite let me know. I have a small obsession with 20 inch floor toms

Are the rogers beavertail lugs or B+B? 500.00 is a good deal for those either way,esp if unmolested, but if the rogers are beavertails if I had to choose it would be those. The 20" ft are definitely uncommon I had one on a Luddy wood three ply kit purchased new in 1977,had to use 5 b's minimum to get it moving, and remember the 20 heads for tom's are going to be a special order at best.If you have the 1000.00 you could play both for a while, and probably flip either for more than you paid, making the one you keep very inexpensive.

If anyone is still interested, I am trying to sell a 1965 Ludwig Maple Shell set with a 14" and a 15" RIMS Mounted toms, a 20" Floor Tom, and a 24" bass drum. The shells are in great condition with a few scratches. Email me if you are interested.

That's what I was wondering. B&B lugs? Pick the Ludwigs. Beavertails, pick the Rogers, unless you can swing both sets, then you could sell the 20" floor tom and the rest of the set and then buy the Rogers, and have something left over. Then you could decide whether to keep the Rogers or not.
