Actually the black silver badges started in the mid 60's up to the 80's, does your black gold badge have serial number on it or not? but i was referencing rob cook's the slingerland book and it did state this on page # 149

From Stevo

Black and silver badge started in 1970.

According to Dr C J Wenks' timeline posted in the Drum Guide that is right ... 1970, the transition badge. And the serial numbers are re set with that badge.

There is a serial number guide also in the Drum Guide.
