When did premier start making 13*9" toms?

Loading...

Hello,

the title says it all really. I looked through some catalogues and it seems to be around 73ish...

But i guess i really want to know is did the 14*8" rack tom go out when the 13" came in?

I've got a 70's Elite type kit (i think it might be early 70's so maybe not called that?) that has both the 13*9 and 14*8" toms and was wondering if this is quite unusual? It's in burgundy pearl btw.

Thanks for any insight :)

I have a "New for 72" Prem brochure..and they mention a 9 by 13 in there..

Yes,a kit with 9 by 13 and 8 by 14 is unusual.......I am thinking they did stop making a 8 by 14 around 1972-73...so maybe they were just using up old stock..

I have a stray 16 by 16 in Burgundy..if you are interested!>>No extra holes...

Hi,

I guess in 1972. My 707 (built 1973, first presented in the '72 catalogue) has the same unusual 13x9 and 14x8 Configuration. The 303 has a 12x8 instead of the 13x9.

Cheers

@blairndrums shame you don't have an 14by14 or an 18by16, i've already got a 16by16 :(

What country are you in BTW? and how much would you sell it for? i've no idea how much singles/spares go for..

@dj_fontana what a beautiful kit and amazing condition! i saw that one when i was doing my research and noted it was the only one with the same size toms. Out of interest how are you tuning the two rack toms? I've got the 13" to sound nice (tuned higher to where a 12" might sit) but I find that for the 14" to sound substantially different, it needs to be tuned lower than it sits comfortably at IMO...

I guess i might have to tune the 13" up even higher to give the 14" enough space to breathe.

Thanks guys.
