John Grey would be my best guess as well

a friend of mine has a really sweet red sparkle Broadway kit

and he needs resonant side claws and rods

Those do look like the rods he has on the batter side so I am pretty sure it is a John Grey bass drum

rods look alike, but the lugs are slightly different.

your friend's seems to be a broadway
