What's the value of my Rogers set?

Loading...

Hello All,

New to this forum but I like what people are talking about so I thought I'd post a question about my set of Rogers Holiday Drums. My parent bought them in 1966, I still have the receipts, I am the original owner, they are 20" kick, 5x14 powertone snare, 9x13 tom, 14x14 tom and 16x18 tom with four legs.

In 1978-9, I removed the outter skins, had them finished in a black laquar finish and upgraded the small tom hardware to the 70's heavier Rogers tube hardware. I have kept the drums in excellent condition.

Can anyone give me an honest answer as to what they might be worth today?

Thank you for reading my post.

Hi M....

just FYI...there is a section on the forum dedicated to questions about the value of gear...it's further down the sections list..so you probably should have posted there (maybe Webmaster will move this).

The GREAT thing about your kit is you still have the receipts and it sounds like a nice kit. The GREATER thing is...you have ne w/ a 14x14 floor tom.

Rogers didn't equip many of their trap sets with that size FT. 80% of their kits had a 16x16.

So...hold onto your seat.....the floor tom...alone...is worth about $500-600.

That's the GREAT news.

Here's the not great news: the original wraps are gone and it has been refinished.

If the original wraps were still on and in decent shape...that kit would be worth over $2g......over because you have proof you are the original owner....

BUT, as that is not the case...it becomes a trickier valuation. I would say, FT = $500, snare = $250...so the rest all together, about $1200 -1300 or so.

Pics would help.....

Maybe Ploughman will chime in.....

Thank you Jaye for your input.

You said"The GREATER thing is...you have ne w/ a 14x14 floor tom" Either the spacing of the letters are wrong ne w/ or you're saying something I don't understand. Also do you think that the 16x18 floor tom has some value? Yes it is 18" in dia. and has four legs.

thank you again

jeeeeez...I missed the fact that it has double-toms ! Holy crap....

The 18" FT is also very, very rare. That's something...a factory kit with BOTH a 14x14 and a 16x18. Hmmmm.....

So...revise my estimates upward.

In it's original wraps, this would have a value of about $2500-3000.

In it's current refinished state, $1400-1600...I would say. I mean, again I come to this by saying...if you auctioned the 2 floor toms by themselves, they would fetch $500 or so for the 14 and $300 plus for the 18...regardless of the refinish of 'em). So, add the rest of the drums, and yes...that would be my estimated market value.

(yes, I made some typos up there...sorry.)
