What's happening?

Hey everyone, I’ve been away from here and vintage drums (sort of) for almost a year, kinda discovered I liked vintage furniture too! Just wanted to check in and say hello and see what’s been happening while I was away. What’s happening in the vintage drum market these days? Did the economic downturn affect vintage drum prices much? Is there any sign of a recovery in the vintage drum market? What would say a nice complete original red sparkle 22, 13, 16 Slingerland set go for at the moment?

I’m considering parting with my 50’s BDP WFL kit, it’s 100% original and complete including all the ‘button feet’ hardware and all in excellent condition. I’m considering replacing it with something sparkly from Slingerland, Gretsch or Camco. Nice to be back here and looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Hey, welcome back. You didn't miss much. The only real news is the realization that Bud Slingerland and Bill Ludwig were one and the same. It was kinda like when the rumor that David Lee Roth and Gene Simmons were the same guy. Remember that one? Very strange times indeed.

The prices have lowered as expected. It's a buyers market. Check ebay for a brief glimpse into where we currently find ourselves.

If you have some pics of the red sparkle Slingy kit, I might be interested in a trade...depending on what it is. I'm on the watch for a red sparkle Slingy from the 60's.

Other than that, hope your stay away was restful and productive. Glad you're back.

mcjnic, thanks for the warm welcome back. I don't have red sparkle slingerlands but I think a nice example would look and sound great next to my blue sparkle Rogers and silver sparkle Ludwigs.

vintagemore2000, I don't really know what I would want for the WFL kit, I need to get a better idea of where the market is at. I know that I invested a lot of hard earned and elbow grease into it and would not sell unless I at least get back what I put in. Shoot me an offer in a pm if you want! It's a fantastic and pretty rare kit but I already have some nice Ludwigs and would like to try some other flavours.

cheers.
