what would you do?

I have a question, and i need some advise.

here is my situation....i have (1) B/O super sensative (1) B/O supraphonic and (1) Radio King. Both of Ludwig snare's have minor pitting and acouple of scratch's. There not bad and you can hardly see them, but i know they are there. My RK needs the hardwear to be re-plated.

would you rather spend the money and re-chrome the Ludwig's and re-nickle the RK.

or would you keep them the way they are, and buy another project.

if i were to re-chrome the ludwig's would that take away from the value?

what are your thoughts on re-chroming and re-nickling?

-DON'T DO IT...for those types of drums. They are waaaay too common and available. It wouldn't be cost-effective at all.

Is the Radio king one ply shell or ply shell? If the R.K. is a one ply shell i would re-store that drum and not waste the money on the more common Ludwig snare's.Mikey

find a cob snare no pitting and tight chrome not to mention sound is crisp

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

With patience, you will find some Student RK parts in better condition cheaper than re-plating the ones you have. And you can sell your less than desirable ones to off set the cost of the better ones you find.

Good advise. That's why you guys are my buddies. You all gave me a good point of view and set me in the right direction.

I am going to post some pics of my snares. Some time tomorrow.
