What wood was used for these late 60's Tempro drums?

Does anyone know what wood was used for these Tempro drums that (Im pretty sure) were made in the late 60s?

Thanks anyone that can help, Im a sucker for these old drums. I bought a different beat up old Tempro set (that I think was made in the 70s) off of ebay for dirt cheap that I was going to pull the wrap off of, sand down and give a nice finish but when I took the wrap off I discovered they were made out of particle board! That has nothing to do with these drums, just thought it was crazy that they would use particle board for a set when a few years earlier they were decent wood. Funny thing is with good heads they sound pretty good.

Off topic my friend needs a decent pair of hi hats for cheap, if anyone has a pair to get rid of for a little amount of money please let me know. I was paralyzed a few years ago and hes been driving from Murrieta to San Diego at night to help me out with bull**** around the house and not accepting anything in return but a few bowls. Id like to surprise him with functional hi hats, the things hes using came with a SP set and fold inside out if he pushes too hard on the pedal (Ive never seen anything like it!). They would be shipped to Murrieta, CA. Thanks again!

Hello, sir!

Very cool wrap! As I'm sure you know, Tempros were made by Pearl. The wood is Luan or Philippine Mahogany. How many plies are there? With the right heads and tuned correctly they should sound great!

These MIJs of this era were made either with the thinner ply with the re-rings like this one here, and the other was a thicker (about a 6 ot 7 or 9 ply or something like that) with no rings. Both can be made to sound very good, but in my opinion, the thinner ones like you have here sound better - they have more body and low-end. These sound downright fantastic!

As for the hats - yeah, I have a pair of 13 inch ZBT that I can sell for $35 plus shipping $12 shipping (for a total of $47) - see as part of my "Huge Sale" (http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=39428)

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
