what to use to protect clean nickel

Hi Folks, I'm on a new "snare-drum from left over parts" again. I just polished the NOB hardware. What would be good to use to keep it shiny and also protect it from oxidating in the future? Tnx in advance, Bart

Hi Bart,

I like Mequiars Ultimate Quik Wax. Several coats using micro-fibre towels. Can't find that, any high quality car detail wax will work just fine.

Oh...I love nickel.

I've had the best results with Simichrome. The harder you scrub the better it works, andit does leave a wax behind so it stays shiny for awhile.

I just put a Jazzfest together a couple of nights ago and the nickel is shining like chrome. I'll snap some photos later, in the meantime here's a decent before and after of a Slingerland floor tom leg.

No more beards!

Only issue I have with Simichrome is it seems to be a #3000 grit or so buffing compound. That can and will take nickel plating right off. If not carefull.

OP was asking about protecting polished NOB. Top shelf car wax.
