What shells? - 10 inch MIJ add-ons

I have a couple MIJ kits that I want to build 10 inch add-ons. I already have all the hardware and wraps, though am not sure what shells to use. I have some 10 inch drums/shells, but none are an exact match to the shells of the kits I am adding to.

DRUM #1 - is an add-on to a Pearl made thin shell with re-rings. I have never seen a 10 inch tom with this type of shell.

DRUM#2 - is an add-on to a Star made thin shell with no re-rings. This kit has shells that are thinner than the post-68 that MIJs typically have.

I will add some pics and detail more of the options (shells that I have) in the next couple days.

Until then, has anyone ever tried to build add-on drums to match these thinner shell MIJ / stencil kits? Also, what say you in terms of how much it would even matter for a drum this size (10 inch - likely 7 inches deep).

i have a been selling a bunch of 10" keller shells lately, and about half of the buyers wanted to build a add on for their mij kits.

of course they were not period add on's since many said they couldn't find anything worth converting. so unless you get lucky (or want to use what you have) a keller shell might be your only option.

perhaps someone else has some better info on peroid shells for you, but this has been my recent experience.

Are these Keller shells you have been selling for this purpose made of maple? or something else. Anderson Trading (stopped by there couple months ago) have been selling quite a few Mahogany shells - are these the same thing you are referring to?
