So in the lot of MIJ shells was this guy. Now I refinished this with scraps of Fantasia Pearl wrap from the Kent shell. I cut it down to even strips and did it right, also added the Pearl lugs. I think it looks classy. Now my question. The interior looks to have the " zola " coating typically known with Tama Imperialstars & Swingstars. I know they did make some wooden snares. Could this have been one of those shells?
What shell is this?

Hello Jay I would say it may be possible that it is
on the other hand
I have a black and white badge Ludwig snare
with classic bow tie lugs and that same coated interior
Hmmm... so it could either be a Tama ( which I'm not sold on ) or likely a Ludwig. Reason I'm hesitant to think it's Tama is due to the lack of re-rings. I didn't think they made the wood Imperialstars for many years, and the early versions all had the re-rings. Either way it's a good shell. Can't wait to get it all together and hear it.

Looks more like a Hoshino Shell to me...not sure!

Quite a few more black chips in my 1982 Swingstars.

Is it possible Star was doing this before they switched to Tama? Early version of the Zola perhaps.

STAR as far as i know(pretty sure) had only a Grey paint inside their Shells! Hoshino did a coating like this;-)

The pinkish Zolacote is specific to one brand. I'll look in the attic to see if one of my shells has it. I just remembered where I saw that color Zolocote. I owned a mid-seventies MIT unbadged Pearl stencil with that color interior. Wrapped with white leatherette (factory).
Hi!
Maybe it´s a NewSound shell?
