Jaye makes a good point about the value of sticking to a finish that the manufacturer offered... though I'm not as picky about it. I'm currently re-wrapping a 60s Ludwig Club Date set in a blue/purple satin flame, which Ludwig never offered. I hesitated at first, but now that I've got the 12" tom wrapped, I'm in love with the look and I'm glad I went ahead with it. In the end, they're your drums--if you don't plan to sell them, go with a finish you love.

That said: Rogers did offer some very cool vintage finishes that you don't see every day. You can never go wrong with a classic sparkle, but on your kit I'd be strongly tempted to go with black onyx. It's a true Rogers finish (though I don't know if they offered it during the Big R era), it looks smashing, and it really stands out as a vintage finish that's a refreshing change from the sparkles and pearls that you see everywhere. Sure to turn heads!

Precision Drum doesn't carry it, but you can still find it at Jammin' Sam's.

Let us know what you go with!
