What model or year Ludwigs used this tom mount?

Loading...

I purchased a set of 1967 Ludwigs with the consolette replaced by a different mount requiring a 5/8" tom post. I haven't seen any posts of this diameter and have found the correct consolette, but I've now seen three of these other mounts on Ebay all claiming to be from Ludwig drums. Mine also has the felt padding and heavy conical washers that are stamped "Ludwig" just like the one in the auction.

When were these used and what did the tom holder look like? Is it a better or sturdier mount than the consolette?

Pretty sure it's from the Ludwig Standard series...a lower end line made from the late '60s into the '70s.

Thanks for that info. I found a couple of "Standard" sets on Ebay and that is indeed the tom holder bracket.

Was that a relatively sturdy post and mount system? I've found the correct consolette for my set but I had to remove the "Standard" mount that was added because it covered one of the original mounting holes and now I've got a 1 1/4" hole in the top of the drum. If the other mount is just as sturdy (or even more so) I may try to find a tom mounting post from a Standard set.
