What kind of wood?

Hello,

Does anyone know what kind of wood was used to make the shells of a mid-90's Yamaha Stage Custom drum kit?

Looks like a four ply.

If you know the model #, you can go to the yamaha site and enter the number in the find it section, and you should be able to get the info on this set. That said, it is Yamaha, so either maple or birch most likely, and maybe beech.

I think the Stage Custom line had some strange Falkata wood mixed with luan and a layer of Birch. There was another Stage Custom line that was only luan with a single outer layer of Birch. Only fairly recently did Yamaha give these shells decent wood (Maple and Birch). They sounded pretty good but they were fairly cheap non-Japan shells.

I was able to look it up at Yamaha in the "Drum Vault" section.
