The hex-shaped stampings are throwing me- Z Custom? Hi hat? Med. Crash?
What is this cymbal?
Why did it upload as a thumbnail? The hexagons are hollow-maybe a bottom Z Custom Dyna Beat HH
Hmmm. The picture isn't there when I click on the thumbnail. Only the thumbnail which is too small to see anything like hammering shape.
The Z series isn't my thing, but The Cymbal Book mentions the patterns: closed hex, five point star, open penta, and six point star. The hexagons appear hollow in the photos in the book. That's all I got.
It's an original (1st Generation) Zildjian Z series from the late 80's to early 90's. Looks like a Dyno Beat Hi-Hat. The hi-hats were reversible, but usually the asterisk hammering was the top and the hexagon hammering was the bottom.
You didn't mention the size, but it looks in the picture like a 13" to 14" cymbal.
yep, first generation Z series. they did an open hex pattern, and a closed hex pattern (star).
