What is my age?

Loading...

I have owned this Slingerland drum since 1944 and I wonder if anyone can tell me it's approximate age.

It's diameter is 14" and the height is 10". There are 8 lugs and it has a tone control. The snares are catgut.

[COLOR="Navy"]Al:

You have a Metal Hoop Parade Drum, shown below, made by Slingerland with this strainer and features during 1934 - 1941. However it was only ever officially offered in 15, 16 and 17 inch shell diameters, so if you have a 14 that would be somewhat unique.

Very cool that you have had the drum since 1944! Was this a military service drum?

DRCJW,

Thank you for the information.

I don't know if this had been a military drum or not. The way I came about owning it was that the high school band director would buy used instuments and recondition them during the summer and then sell them to new band students. I do remember it cost my parents $14.00.
