What exactly is this 14x14 Ludwig ft?

This is a 14x14 Maple floor tom I was well, given.

Weirdo early melodic tom for sure, but no idea as to date cause it had contact paper over the og plastic. Btw, I'm not the one who tore the original stuff off...it was long gone. I don't even know color that is. Looks like strata but not quite...dunno

My questions are...what purpose do those little rivets serve? They don't go through the shell. There are also no additional holes, and the bottom bearing edge is finished.

And if you look closely at the interior of the shell, there are two separate seams of maple. The first seam measures exactly 5.5" below the bearing edge...you know, 5.5"x14"...snare shell size. The badge is long gone, and there is no fading to tell if it was a KS or OB. However it has short round tip legs with diamond texture. So I'm thinking 66-68. But can't find any info to it's availability.

Not looking for a value, just want to make sure that I'm not ruining a rare shell by drilling new holes for 8 reso lugs and and a recover to match my big beats.

Thanks

this is the Ludwig Bowling ball wrap, it is the very shell that almost put ludwig out of Business, this is a six ply shell are late 70's to early 1980's with the rivets counter sunk slightly into the shell to hold the wrap on! the shells are great the rivets are Horrible! this is a great canidate for whatever you want to do to it, they don't have great resale value compared to other ludwigs

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Funny...I told my friend the wrap looked like a bowling ball.

The rivets do seem like a terrible idea for sure! I understand because of the low VOC of the glue...but why...wow.

Guess it's gonna get some tangerine glass glitter on it now!

LandenLarry has been looking for that wrap to wrap a snare to match his kit. Remove it carefully and you can sell it to him. Assuming there is enough wrap left over.

The way a PO pulled the wrap off someone would have to have a steady hand and use a small piece from another part of the wrap. Could probably hide the seam under two lugs tho. I should have it off tonight. Guess that person could contact me if they need it, wouldn't be a problem at all
