Just watching this old 1964 Beach Boys concert and trying to figure out what drums those are. He had to be one of the first rock drummers to use double mounted toms.it even looks in some shots as if he has two floor toms. But not sure. Slingerland with Rogers stands ? Or Rogers with B&B lugs. Wish it was in color so we could see what color sparkle those are. Did anyone here see a show on this 64 tour and remember ?

i have that dvd, its out of print.

i never noticed til now that brian's girlfriend and future wife is in the audience.

the back of the dvd says that its taken from a "mega show" with the beatles and lesley gore in 1964. its was taped live and aired on close circuit tv to packed theaters.

If you look closely, you will see that he combined his early Gretsch and Rogers kits. So the bass, 12 and a 14 floor are Rogers and the 13 and the 16 floor tom are Gretsch. Look closely at the lugs in particular. Early shots show that he started with a Gretsch 'Bop" kit 20,13,16 and then moved to a B&B Rogers Headliner kit. It appears he added another single tom arm and mount to support the 13 Gretsch tom. The hardware is all Swivomatic. He moved on to Camco a bit later, but even the Camco had all Rogers hardware for tom mounting, spurs and floor tom legs.

Here are the early pictures. You can see how he would have made up one kit from two. It does look as if the second floor tom has had knobby legs installed.
