Paiste 2002 16" crash and 20" ride, Zildjian custom a hihat

Lots of luck was involved in putting this group together. If one of the Zildjians or Sabians cracked, I doubt that I could find a replacement that sounded as good. They're wildly inconsistent: I've heard superb Zildjian student models and A Zildjians that were just absolute dogs. Don't limit yourself to a certain product line, size, or model. Trust your ears.

Paiste aims for consistency and usually succeeds. I like how they sound, but they feel brittle to me.

Old Zildjian A's and Paiste 2002 , have full sets of both. I always use a 22" Paiste 2002 ride I purchased in 1980.

Right now I'm using : 20" Paiste 602 flat ride, 18" Sabian HHX studio crash (raw bell completes flat ride, since ride has no bell), Paiste 404 brown label 14" HHs or a 15" A Zildjian (very old, has no made in usa under stamp) with a Sabian AA crash underneath,

For 20 years I used 2002 Paiste Black Labels. I have also owned Paiste Signatures and Traditionals (both full sets), and I had a set of K Customs a few years ago that I really regret selling. The best hats I have ever owned were a matched set of K Custom 14 Dark Top over an A Custom Projection Bottom. I picked those Ks up one at a time used, and had matched them all to work with each other. I got very good deals on each cymbal. I had about 600 in them, and sold them all the same day for 800. Store prices on the combined set was approx. 2100.00. The ones I now have are great cymbals, beautiful cymbals, but... perfection is not easy to recreate.
