What brand is this double tom holder. MIJ?

Hi all!

Does someone know what this is? Driving me nuts.

I have the same upper arms on my U.S.Mercury kit. I don't think you'll get it narrowed to a specific name as a few MIJ names used this tom mounting system.

they are Pearl. late 60s - early 70s. Like Jay says, used on Pearl made stencil sets too. I had one on this kit that I used with just one tom. Quite handy that it could be used as a single or double set-up

Yes as per Andrew... plus Maxwins used these also.. yours is set up wrongly... the shorter arm mounts on the post. Longer arm enters the tom.

I would like to add - that this particular mount is not easy to find. The swivo type one that came after this one is regarded as a much better functioning, but these can work just fine. This one you have here appears to be in very good condition.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Hi John! (edit...I did make a mistake here, as I did not see the first picture. The proper way is when the key operated bolt faces up, regardless of post length. For the double-tom holder the short post does go into the double holder, like you said. Sorry about that!)

I see this quite a bit! Actually, it is set up correctly, with the SHORT arm going into the tom. The design of the mechanism is such that the key operated bolt faces UP, not AWAY. The arm is called the Free Adjustable and can be seen in the Pearl 1969 catalog here...[ame="http://pearldrum.com/support/product-catalogs/1969-general-catalog.pdf"]http://pearldrum.com/support/product-catalogs/1969-general-catalog.pdf[/ame]

Longjohn, you beat me to the post! Agree Pearl/Maxwin.

I had a Maxwin when I was a nipper, with exactly the same hex rod config you've got there, except the two tom arms went straight into a double tom mount on the bass. Same single bolt fasteners on top, which were, IMO, complete rubbish. A poor Rogers imitation produced a lot cheaper and probably quicker! Not at all sturdy enough to last a whole gig.

But on mine both arms were the same length. I might still have them somewhere, now I think of it...
