WFL/Ludwig Badges

Loading...

HI, Two questions.

1. What year did ludwig change from WFL to Ludwig badges?

2. What year did ludwig add serial numbers to badges?

I have a 6 1/2 8 lug wfl wmp snare (which I love), and a 5 1/2 8 lug ludwig wmp jazz fest with no serial number (which I also love), and I am just trying to figure out how old they are.

thanks for any help

Hey Joe, answers to your questions.

1. The last WFL "Keystone" badge was made in the late 1950's, the first badge that was used after the Ludwig family bought the Ludwig Drum Company from Conn is typically called the "transition badge" and has the Ludwig symbol in a oval blue shape.

2. Serial numbers were started in 1963 (4 digits), 1964 (5 digits). You can also look at: http://www.vintagesnaredrums.com for more info

For what it's worth

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....
