Mine are 1954, im wondering what type of wood they are made of. At a gig last night two different drummers whom i shared my kit with for a gig told me they were the nicest sounding drums theyve ever played. One asked for me to tune his kit and another asked what kind of wood they were made of and i didnt know what to say! I was pretty flattered either way. Thanks guys!

i believe its mahogany with an inner ply of maple.

Actually, there wasn't a maple ply during this era for WFL. The shell was a three ply lay-up with Mahogany/Poplar/Mahogany. The re-rings were Maple though!
