WFL Symphonic Snare

Loading...

So... I found an 8x15 WFL Symphonic snare shell on ebay, that's just screaming to be restored. The thing looks to be in great condition, but I can't tell if its a Ludwig or not. It doesn't have badges, only FOUR grommet vent holes. I looked for something similar in the archives of vintagedrumguide.com, but couldn't find anything exactly like it. The guy also said it was made around 1947-1951 (according to "The Ludwig Book"), but when I looked on Vintagedrumguide.com, I concluded that it was a shell from 1953-1957. Could someone tell me if the shell is a Ludwig or not? And if it is, around when was it made? Thanks.

By the way here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/LUDWIG-WFL-8X15-PHILHARMONIC-CONCERT-SNARE-PROJECT_W0QQitemZ230314944340QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item230314944340&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

Very strange and not original of course with the extra holes. I would also question why a pro would wrap it like that.

Looks like a Ludwig shell to me, but not worth that money in that condition.

If the strainer is good and works, that is at least $50.
